Amata Spring Country Club
About
Award-winning championship golf course up there with the best in the world
Positioned midway between the bustling Thai capital and the serene beach retreat of Pattaya, the esteemed Amata Spring Country Club is an award-winning world-class championship golf course with expansive undulating fairways, superbly crafted bunkers, lightning-fast putting surfaces, and a generous sprinkling of strategically placed water hazards. The course has played host to a number of prestigious tournaments since opening its fairways for play in 2005, including the Thailand Golf Championship in 2011, won by Lee Westwood.
The fairways artfully navigate around two sizable lakes, and it is upon one of these expansive aquatic features that golfers encounter the standout hole of the layout – the 17th, a par-three measuring 145 yards. Interestingly, the yardage here is almost inconsequential, as the island green for this hole is ingeniously designed to be adjustable. Measuring 40 yards by 40 yards, the floating putting surface can be repositioned via a simple switch, altering the carry required to reach it. Access to this unique green is facilitated by a small boat that ferries golfers from the lakeside.
The facilities at Amata Spring Country Club are, as you would expect, top notch, with extensive practice facilities, four restaurants, a well-stocked pro-shop and a bar. As it's a private members club, it can be hard to get a round here, but those lucky enough to do so will enjoy an experience sure to live long in the memory.
