Best Ocean Golf Club
About
This links-style 18-hole courses by the ocean is one of the toughest in Bangkok
Proudly touting itself as Bangkok's most formidable golf course, Best Ocean Golf Club is nestled in proximity to the ocean, just 45 minutes from downtown Bangkok, where it benefits from refreshing sea breezes that contribute to delightful playing conditions. Embracing a links-style design, this course is undeniably daunting and not for the faint of heart; the fairways often find themselves flanked by water on both sides, and the ocean gusts can steer wayward shots toward further trouble. It's fair to say that this course is best suited to highly accomplished players.
Best Ocean's layout boasts tight fairways and raised greens, demanding well-executed drives and precise approach shots. Crafting a thoughtful strategy off the tee and maintaining composure during the approach can significantly impact one's score. Water is a constant companion, hugging every hole, and frequently flanking it from left to right. This course leaves little room for wayward drives; those who venture astray are well-advised to stock up on spare golf balls.
Undoubtedly, the crowning jewel of the course is the par-3 17th hole, a masterpiece that would fit seamlessly into the PGA tour. This 230-yard challenge crosses water to reach a broad yet shallow green, guarded diligently by expansive bunkers at its forefront.
While the pro shop, clubhouse, and practice facilities fulfill their roles adequately, the true allure here is unquestionably the golf course itself, and any golfer in Thailand owes it to themselves to experience this course at least once. Whether seeking enjoyment or seeking a formidable test, one thing is certain: bring an ample supply of extra golf balls.
Reviews
Disappointment on a course which could be amazing.
I booked this purely because it was the nearest course to another activity. I played here two years ago and there is really no change. The place is very tired and needs a lot of tlc to improve it. The staff were friendly enough and the two caddies were both very good.....we shared a cart which was fun. The course however, is in a very poor state. The tees are ok, the fairways are very poor, the bunkers are bad and the greens were just about acceptable. We moved along at a nice pace but this was because there were very few others playing!! Sunday morning at about 8am in Thailand ......the car park should be full and so should the course!!! We payed just under 3000 baht for the two of us so it wasn't expensive, especially for a weekend, but it wasn't worth any more. It's a shame because the course itself could be very, very nice with some very challenging holes. The greens are as good as any PGA golf courses
However the fairways are in need of further maintenance. There are signs of burnt grass probably due to dry weather conditions. The bunkers are in good condition. Overall I would rate it at 6 out of 10.Course needs a lot of work.
The course is very run down and the drainage system is not working as most fairways had some degree of mud, making play hard.Course Info
