About
Excellent and well-maintained parkland course in a convenient location
Despite being one of the closest courses to central Bangkok, the many trees and lakes at the highly regarded Muang Kaew Golf Club insulate you from the hustle and bustle of the city. Vastly improved following a 2003 redesign by Schmidt-Curley, it's one of the best courses in Bangkok, and the TifEagle turf greens and Paspalum grass fairways ensure excellent year-round conditions for all golfers.
One of the unique design aspects of Muang Kaew are the well-guarded greens, many of which are elevated with large side catchment areas, uncommon on the mostly flat Bangkok golf courses. Wide fairways give players some relief for approach shots, although most are into difficult-to-hold greens with high-lipped bunkers and shaved fringes.
On the front nine, the shortish par-5 4th offers a good chance to pick up shots if you can find the right level of the multi-tiered green, and you're well advised to take the opportunity as the next few holes offer few opportunities. The 6th is a long, challenging par 5 with water protecting the right side of the green, the 7th a tricky par 3 that plays over water to a very fast and shallow green, while the dog-leg 8th requires you flirt with the water to set yourself up for a short iron into the green.
The back nine of the course offers great variety, starting with the exciting risk-reward par-5 13th. Walking under the highway, players have a blind tee shot and an approach shot over a large and intimidating water hazard. The finishing hole is also challenging, a deceptive par-5 where any approach shots short and right will meet a watery grave in the hidden pond guarding the green.
While the locker rooms could use some renovations, the rest of the facility makes up for it. The restaurant serves some of the best western food in Bangkok, and the pro shop has a wide selection of golf apparel at reasonable prices. Golf carts are optional, and the course is easy to walk. The caddie corps are well-experienced and can make an average day better.
While by no means the most exciting course in Bangkok, Muang Kaew Golf Club is an enjoyable challenge and makes for an excellent choice on any Bangkok golf holiday, especially for those with limited travel time.

Too noisy due to express way beside
Very good maintenance from departure to the green. Caddy very helpful, I regret the noise due to express way and the additional price I have to pay to have a caddy, so caddy is a minimum of 400 for tips, ok for that but I had to pay a 450 additional for me and one for my follower. Not clear in the voucher.Lots of water, super fast greens and well kept.
The par 3's are interesting with par 5's quite straight but more difficult attacking the green. Good course for intermediate golfer. Made to feel very welcome and caddy was great as always at this course. Many other courses around but suits my game, location and not a stuffy club at all. Did not get the chance to use bar for lunch and beer this time but always excellent when have done previously.Well, worth the price
My second round and despite pace of play the course. Fridays are always busier and so I’m not being too harsher critical. Wonderful bang for the buck.Course Info
