Navatanee Golf Course
About
Beautiful and historic championship course that's worth every penny
Former host of both the 1975 World Cup of Golf and the Thailand Open in 1999, Navatanee Golf Course continues to rank as one of the best in Bangkok, with golfers from around the world drawn to its stunning natural beauty, rich history and compelling challenge. While the play is strictly for members only during weekends, lucky international guests can get the opportunity to play during weekdays. Despite high green fees, it's well worth it.
Located close to downtown Bangkok, this Robert Trent Jones Jr-designed course is kept in impeccable condition and has only improved with age. There are some challenging holes. The short par-4 5th, which despite measuring just 329 yards remains one of the more difficult holes thanks to the lake that runs up the left side, awkwardly jutting into the fairway.
The signature 6th hole features a split fairway, with a monstrous carry required if you want to play to the left side and set yourself up for a birdie chance. Realistically, you'll play to the right, leaving yourself a tough approach over water. Par here is a notable achievement.
The clubhouse at Navatanee Golf Club has a superb indoor/outdoor restaurant overlooking the 9th that serves up some of the best local food around, including an excellent wine selection. The changing and shower facilities were renovated in 2015 and are some of the nicest in town. On-course kiosks supply a wealth of beverages and snacks during the round, while warm-ups are limited to the large putting green at the staging area as there is no driving range.
Navatanee offers a private country club experience in Thailand, with brisk play and sub-four hour rounds being the norm. The golfing experience is first-rate, more than justifying green fees that are on the higher side. A great choice for your next Bangkok golf holiday.
Reviews
Good experience for golfing. However, the caddies standard is rather poor. Not helpful.
Overall the course is ok...but some fairway surfaces need to be repaired...............................................................Great golf course with renewed facilities.
Nice course, not much golfer in the morning so can take your time and enjoy every hole. Layout is quite good for both rookies and professionals."Wonderful mature course but some maintenance issues"
An attractive course with many mature trees and some water hazards but you can play around most of them. The greens were not good – lots of bald patches and a similar story on the fairways. In some places the cart paths were broken and the carts looked as though they had seen better days. Modern locker rooms but slightly old-fashioned look to the restaurant. A good course but definitely looks its ageCourse Info
