Northern Rangsit Golf Club
About
Flat, water-heavy course near Don Muang International Airport
Located in the north of Bangkok near the city's second international airport, Northern Rangsit Golf Club offers an attractive, generally flat course layout that is surrounded by water hazards, canals, and paddy fields. Mercifully free of long water carries, you still have to cope with plentiful bunkering and some stiff breezes to score well, but there's nothing overly daunting for high handicappers.
The first nine holes feature hazards on both sides of the fairways, requiring straight tee shots. Hybrids or long irons make for good tee-off club selections, as errant shots can lead to sand or water hazards.
The long par-4 9th stands out as a potential card-wrecker, with the approach to the long, narrow green a true test of your ability. Miss right and you will be lucky to stay dry, miss left and the best-case scenario is finding the bunkers that lie between green and water.
The 11th is the pick of the par-3s, requiring a tee shot that must clear the lake as well as the very large wishbone bunker that protects the front of the green. With more water to the right and beyond the green, there's very little margin for error, so make sure to take the wind into consideration when choosing your club.
The closing stretch is particularly memorable, the 16th a par-5 that snakes through a lake, ideally requiring a draw off the tee and a fade on approach, and the 17th a short par 4 with water intruding into the fairway in the landing zone and an ox-box lake surrounding three quarters of the green.
The eighteenth hole is Northern Rangsit's signature hole, both beautiful and challenging. The putting green stands out amid spectacular scenery, a perfect circle surrounded by water. An accurate second approach is vital to avoid ending with blemish on your scorecard.
A recently renovated clubhouse with good lockers and a local Thai restaurant is a plus. The decent maintenance conditions, fewer golfers than most courses, and economical green fees make Northern Rangsit a worthwhile consideration as part of a Bangkok golf holiday.

Average Courses - overrun with Koreans
Courses relatively good. Healthy Restaurant Food. I had a caddy that had no decent eyes on it. Lost 2 sticks, cos she was not able to see too far. And I am not going too fast.Course Info
