About

Enjoyable old-school course in a serene setting

Much improved following much-needed renovations, Sampran Golf Club (formerly known as the Rose Garden Golf Club) is now able to compete with other courses in the area. Despite being one of Thailand's oldest courses, the layout and design have always been exceptional, as evidenced by its hosting of the 1992 Thailand Open and its ranking among the top 24 courses worldwide.

Designed by Visuth Junnanont, the 7085-yard course is situated amidst towering mature trees and dense jungle-like vegetation, creating a picturesque environment that is particularly delightful from January to April when the local flora is in full bloom. The flat terrain makes it an ideal course for walking, and the well-positioned water hazards, spectacular bunkering, and lush vegetation provide a serene ambiance that enhances the golfing experience.

The fairways are narrow and tree-lined, requiring accuracy off the tee to have a good approach to the green. Each hole boasts two greens, which may seem unusual but is beneficial for a heavily trafficked course. This unique feature adds to the charm of the course, which may otherwise lack a true wow factor. Nonetheless, the course offers an enjoyable and pleasant experience that golfers are sure to appreciate.

The par 5s are the standout holes at Sampran, with the 5th being the most challenging, requiring both length and accuracy to score well. The 11th is another excellent par 5, with water flanking the hole to the left, making it a gentle right-to-left dogleg hole. The final hole is also challenging, with a long par five that demands a long drive to have a chance at a grandstand finish. The facilities have also improved dramatically since the renovations, and golfers can enjoy a good meal or a cold drink in comfortable surroundings after their round.

Although not the most exclusive golf club in Thailand, the Sampran Golf Club offers one of the most enjoyable rounds of golf in the country.

An old favorite which is still in golf conditions

The course is short and ideal for higher handicap player. The caddies were very friendly bu the green were very inconsistent. Using golf cart is recommended as its quite a long walk between Like
